Well now that I'm back I will have a few new toys to work out and show.
I have finished working with Funk Audio. And that leaves me free to do design work on projects that have been on the back burner for a few years. Projects that are a little to complicated for most places to take on. I have a two way horn loaded system that is next in line in my workshop. That is designed for dual duty in a home theater installation setting. A true force of nature design that will be able to crack 140 db. A midsized back loaded horn system has been gathering dust for quite a few years as well. It combines enough grunt and finesse to keep most anybody in a happy mood. Last but not least is a rework on the large scale back loaded horn I created last year. That was a design that is just begging to be brought to life and let loose. Oh a little thing called a CBT is also partially completed. Oh the things I have to do. And so little time to do it in.

Well one week back and I'm only a week behind schedule.
The fun and games of running a business. Some interesting things will be coming in the next few weeks. Stay tuned! So off to home tomorrow.
Will be nice to be back. Been gone for four and a half months. Along the way some interesting things have been accomplished. Funk Audio has a new website, the design work is finished for their line up and I am no longer an active part of Funk Audio. Onward and upward, the best is yet to come! We had a great time in Denver and had many interesting visitors this year. Some very positive comments from reviewers and attendees.
We presented an active version of the Funk Audio 8.2P and the all new 21 inch subwoofer. As good as the passive version of the MTM was, the active version was such a jump in clarity and performance that we quietly hid the passive crossover change box. Like I've said before Active crossovers rule! Well we are all packed up and ready to load the van for a trip to Denver. Leaving the morning of October the 8th. Should be an interesting time exhibiting at the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival.
Come in for a listen. All active speakers will be available to audition. Well after a six week visit to the factory and many interesting adventures I am back in Canada on the left coast.
Will be preparing for the RMAF on October 10th-12th. Will be seeing many visitors at room Room 437 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center. Come and meet me. We have some pretty smokin good stuff to listen to! A long time in development. Funk Audio has an Active line array!
Preliminary results look pretty good. Pity I'm in China instead of working on it in the flesh. But Nathan is pretty good at posting me what's going on. Take a look: http://www.funkaudio.ca/store/c6/Line_Array_and_CBT.html http://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/1633537-funk-audio-line-array-build-thread.html Sometimes all the i's get dotted and the t's crossed at the right time. Our new 8 is in this category. Pretty much to spec in it's first iteration. This does not happen often! So what has to modified is the surround. It works well, and looks good. But it does not allow even the rated linear excursion! I like my drivers to meet specifications and I don't like to settle for good enough! There's plenty of those kinds of drivers out in the market as is. I'm shooting for pushing the envelope!
Well it's been a busy couple of days. The New Neodymium line is almost ready to test. Waiting as always for the little parts. Like cones and dust caps. The motors are all done and energized. I'm slowly putting up the videos and you will be able to see them. I'll post links on the custom drivers page as things are live and coordinated.
I'll be setting up the DIY purchases of drivers on this page. We did a boat load of driver assembly today. So I have been slowly uploading the videos and will be creating the page as I have time. I picked up the magnets for the long throw 15: It's the biggest slug of Neo 48H I have ever worked with. Should make for a very interesting motor.
24mm thick 98mm in diameter with a 30mm hole in the middle. Good thing it is not charged! Actually I probably wouldn't be typing this if it was charged! Finally after many months of engineering I am seeing the fruits of my labour. Four drivers that have been waiting to be developed are now in the pre-production phase. That means that we use the same components as would be done in a production run, and assemble them in order to prove out the designs in the real world. Here are a few pics: All of these drivers can be customized with different cones, and dustcaps. The suspension can be rejigged to be used in different sized enclosures upon request. Minimum run size is 100 pieces.
